Note: All directions will take you to the Residence. Check with your place of lodging for exact directions to where you're staying. Also talk to your hosts about local driving times. The weekend traffic near Tanglewood and in downtown Stockbridge and Great Barrington can sometimes provide a less than idyllic (but unfortunately not uncommon) Berkshires experience.

FROM NEW YORK
From the Westside Highway or the George Washington Bridge, follow signs to get (and stay) on 9A North to Upstate New York. Follow signs to get on the Sawmill River Parkway (North). From the Sawmill (after a toll or two), take the Taconic Parkway North towards Albany. Exit at Route 23 East, through Hillsdale, New York. Continue on Rte. 23 as it joins Rte. 7 N in Great Barrington.

Follow Rte. 7 to Rte. 183 N (a left fork after a strip of stores and a shopping center). Stay on 183, which will take you through the village of Housatonic. When you cross under a railroad bridge and see a schoolyard, turn right. You'll know you're still on 183 if you see a telltale sign ("183").

Turn left on Christian Hill Road, a sharp little uphill on the left at the intersection that bears a sign marking the town of Glendale. Turn left on Williamsville Rd at the sign pointing towards Chesterwood. After the Chesterwood museum (the road is now dirt), bear right at a fork and follow the road as it curves left. After the curve, the Residence is the first driveway on the right.

FROM ALBANY
Take the Mass Turnpike E (I-90) into Massachusetts. You can either go to Exit 2, Lee, or the exit before that, West Stockbridge. Check with your hotel to know which will be more convenient for you.

If exiting at Lee: Take Rte. 102 West through Stockbridge. Go straight through Stockbridge, cross a golf course, and keep going until you cross 183 (the road you've been on, though unmarked, is Glendale Middle Road). Cross 183 to go up a small hill, Christian Hill Road. You'll soon come to a T, where a sign for Chesterwood will point you left onto Williamsville Rd. After the Chesterwood museum (the road is now dirt), bear right at a fork and follow the road as it curves left. After the curve, the Residence is the first driveway on the right.

If exiting at West Stockbridge: The exit off I-90 is actually a ways before West Stockbridge, before the state border. The signs for West Stockbridge will direct you into downtown West Stockbridge (downtown=one main street), where you will see signs for 41 South, a right turn soon after you pass the handful of businesses. Take 41 South to Glendale Road (the first left after you pass Alford Road on the right, and just following a cemetary on the left. If you pass Pixley Hill Road, you've gone too far.) Turn left on Glendale Rd. (a dirt road) and then turn left about 5 minutes later on Williamsville Road. The Residence is the first driveway on the left.

FROM HARTFORD/SPRINGFIELD AIRPORT
Take I-91 N to the Mass Turnpike West (I-90). Take Rte. 102 West through Stockbridge. Go straight through Stockbridge, cross a golf course, and keep going until you cross 183 (the road you've been on, though unmarked, is Glendale Middle Road). Follow the Mass Turnpike West (I-90) clear across the state. Take Rte. 102 West through Stockbridge.
